Transport links and Parking in Stratford-upon-Avon
Stratford has so much to offer, and all within easy reach.
Stratford-Upon-Avon Park and Ride and Parkway Station
If you are planning a visit to Stratford-upon-Avon then Stratford Park and Ride is the ideal place to park, offering a 7-day a week bus service Monday to Sunday and more than 700 parking spaces available, including several EV charging points.
It also has a passenger terminal with seating, toilets available Monday to Saturday 7.30am to 12.30pm, and generous roof cover to protect visitors from the elements. The toilets are not available outside of these hours.
Stratford Park and Ride bus service runs:
- Mondays to Saturdays between 7.30am and 6.28pm.
- Sundays between 10am and 6.55pm
Buses run every 15 minutes for most of the day* and the journey takes approximately 10-12 minutes. Passengers are dropped off outside of Natwest on Wood Street in the town centre, and picked up on the opposite side of the road outside the charity shop Cancer Research UK.
Please note when Wood Street or Bridge Street are closed, for example due to events taking place in the town centre, the Park and Ride buses will arrive and depart at Windsor Street Coach Park.
The service operates using low floor accessible buses, and well-behaved dogs are welcome aboard.

- Concessions: Stratford Park and Ride bus service is included in the local Warwickshire concessionary travel scheme. This means Warwickshire concessionary bus passholders can travel free of charge after 9am on weekdays, and anytime at weekends. Non-Warwickshire concessionary bus passholders can travel free of charge after 9:30am on weekdays, and anytime at weekends.
The Park and Ride car park is also a great starting point for those who would like to use the Stratford Park & Stride route into the town centre on foot or by bike via the canal towpath. This scenic route is approximately 2800m (1.75 miles) and takes around 40 minutes to reach the town centre on foot, or less than ten minutes by bike as the canal towpath features on the National Cycle Network Route 5.

Location
Stratford Park and Ride is located off Bishopton Lane near to the roundabout with the A46 (T) and the A3400 Birmingham Road. It is well signed on the approach roads from the north and west to help you find the site.

Travel to the Town Centre from Park and Ride
Take the bus
Catch the bus in front of the passenger terminal and be dropped off in Wood Street in the town centre, where you also catch the return bus.
The bus service operates Monday to Saturday between 7.30am and 6.28pm (last bus leaves Stratford Wood Street at 6.25pm). On Bank Holidays the first bus is at 10am. Buses run every 15 minutes for most of the day and the journey takes approximately 10 to 12 minutes.
Please note, services before 9am and Monday to Friday term time between 2.55pm and 4.45pm run every 30 minutes. Please check the timetable for timings.
Take the train
Regular trains run between Stratford Parkway station, situated at the far end of the Park and Ride site and the town station, a 10 minute walk from the town centre. There are two to three trains an hour through the day, and services run into the late evening and take about 3 minutes. Please check National Rail for further information.
Adult day return fares are from £2.20 and can be purchased from ticket machines at the station. Weekly, monthly and annual rail-only season tickets are also available.
Or take a leisurely walk or cycle
If you are not in a hurry you can also take a leisurely walk along the canal into the centre of town. It is a one and three-quarter mile walk to the heart of the town centre, so depending on how quickly you walk, you will need to allow about 40 minutes. You can also cycle along the canal to the town centre. The canal towpath, which is part of National Cycle Network Route 5, is about 300 metres from the car park. Leave the site on the shared use footpath / cycleway which starts near Parkway station and follow the blue signs. Cross Bishopton Lane using the Toucan crossing and turn right. At the roundabout, turn right to continue along Bishopton Lane and join the canal towpath in about 50 metres, turning left for the town centre.

Dogs are welcome on the buses provided they are well-behaved.
Low floor easy access
The service operates using low floor accessible buses. Drivers displaying a valid disabled badge can park for free, but bus or rail fares still apply.
Toilets
There is a fully accessible toilet in the customer services building open Monday to Saturday 7.30am to 12.30pm.
Electrical car charging points
There are four electric car charging points available to use at the Stratford Park and Ride site. Vehicles can park for free when plugged in.
Restrictions
There is a height restriction at the car park of 2.1m / 6ft 10ins, and no motorhomes, caravans or camper vans are permitted at Stratford Park and Ride at any time.
Stratford Parkway Train Station
Regular trains run between Stratford-upon-Avon Parkway station, situated at the far end of the Park and Ride car park, and Stratford-upon-Avon station which is a 10 minute walk from the town centre. Return trains from Stratford-upon-Avon station run into the evening, with last trains leaving at 23:30 Monday to Saturday, and 20:36 on Sunday.

Accessibility
If you are travelling on West Midlands Railway or London Northwestern Railway services only, you can book assistance up to 4 hours ahead for journeys on the same day, providing this is done during our contact centre hours (8am – 10pm daily). To make a Passenger Assist booking with other train operators, including seat reservations, please contact us up to 6 hours ahead for journeys on the same day.
If your booking is made online outside of these hours, this will be processed as soon as possible when our contact centre opens.
Don’t forget you can always simply ‘turn up and go’ without booking, if you know that the station you are using is accessible to you. This means you can still travel if you have made an online booking that has not been confirmed, and we will do our best to help you on the day.

Free parking
Park all year round for an hour, free in the Bridgeway Multi-Storey & Surface Car Parks. As a pay on exit car park, there is also the added benefit of knowing you only pay for parking over 1 hour so you don’t need to worry about getting a parking ticket if you want to go into one last shop!
Accessibility
Blue Badge Parking
Use Park & ride or display a current blue badge for free parking, without a time limit in District Council car parks in both blue badge and general bays.
On-street blue badge or general bay parking is also free but check for time limits. None District Council car parks will charge.
Shopmobility
Shopmobility is a free service provided by Stratford District Council that helps anyone with mobility problems get around Stratford-upon-Avon Town Centre independently.
Standard Shopmobility opening hours are:
- Monday: 10:00 – 15:00
- Tuesday to Saturday: 09:00 – 16:00 (revised closing times, all equipment must be back by 16:00)
- Sundays:
- April to September: 10:00 – 16:00
- October to March: Closed
- Bank Holiday Mondays:

Who can use Shopmobility?
Anyone of any age with a mobility issue, whether it be temporary or long term, can use Shopmobility. You do not have to be registered disabled, have a Blue Badge or be in receipt of disability benefits to use the service, but you will need to register before equipment is loaned.
